3 Fast, Easy Tips to Help You End Your Semester with a Bang! (a good bonus)

Hello and good luck with your finals.

I am so happy that you are reading this. And I promise to keep this short and sweet because I am sure you are slammed with end of the semester stuff.

Do you need to forgive yourself for how your semester has gone so far?

Are you overwhelmed and stressed out from all you have left to do? Do you feel mad at yourself for procrastinating, again? Are you just plain tired?

I remember this time of year well since I was on the ten-year plan myself. I always started off my semesters with a bang, but at this point, with the end not quite in sight, I remember feeling lost, overwhelmed, distracted and really craving some trashy reading time!

First thing I want to say is: Forgive yourself for being human and not doing your semester “perfectly”. You are doing the best you can and if you think you can do better, than make that choice and go for it! You only have a few weeks left! Beating yourself up is not going to help anything so stop doing it. Self criticism doesn’t really work, trust me.

Whatever has happened so far this Fall, breathe into it and let it go. Close your eyes for a minute and take some deep breaths. I’ll wait. It’s cool. Sit quietly and breathe.

Ok, so welcome back. I want you to get in the habit of taking deep breaths from now until you are done with finals. It will calm your nervous system and help you focus, study, and write your papers. Stick your belly out with deep, big breaths. It’s ok, no one is watching. Oxygen gives you energy.

So keep doing the breath thing. If you have one of my Centering/Meditation cds, pop one in for a few minutes before you study or go to bed. If you didn’t get one when I came to your school, email me:

laineywill@yahoo.com. And I will send you one.

Also, remember to drink lots of water. Water helps you retain information, it flushes out toxins and gives you energy when you are under stress.

And finally, remember to laugh and watch comedy every single day as you wrap up your semester. Spend 5 minutes at night before you start to study and watch some you tube videos. My channel is: MSElaineWilliams. I also really love Wanda Sykes, Brian Reagan, and Kathy Griffin. Whoever you watch, remember that laughter releases toxins, burns calories and raises serotonin, the feel good chemical in your brain. So quick review: Focus on your breath several times a day to help reduce stress and gain focus. Drink 8 glasses or bottles of water every single day to stay healthy and well while you bust out your last finals and papers. And spend at least 5 minutes a day watching something funny and laugh.

None of those cost money or take a lot of time but they all will help your mental game and concentration. I wish you a fabulous end of the semester and a restful, fulfilling holiday break!
