Today I was with my raw food chef friend, Don. He was teaching me about crazy stuff about grocery stores and organice vs. conventional produce, and how to eat healthier. We spent an hour at Whole Foods and I learned about things I can’t even spell!
Then we came home and he started preparing this gorgeous raw salad for us. As we were eating, I was opening a stack of mail and I saw a letter from my Mamogram place. I thought it was going to be one more survey.
So in mid sentence, I open the letter and it says: Your Mamogram came back abnormal. You need to come in for more tests and when we have a Radilogist there too. Woa! I was not prepared for that one.
A part of me wanted to freak out. Another part of me thought: well, I have a choice about how I want to deal with this. I can laugh…
And then I started thinking about boob jokes. Then I thought, well, I am going to get some great material from this.
Even when my comedy show was cancelled tonight, I thought: there is a gift somewhere here. So I went to hot yoga and went to run some new jokes at a show here in Bloomfield, when I ran into a neighbor and comic, Carey Riley. We ended up coming back to my place and working on our comedy together.
And we had a blast. So today, I had more visitors in my house than I’ve had all year long! Anyway, Carey is funny and strong and she has been through some stuff. She inspires me and she says that I inspire her.
I am so grateful to funny friends and for comedy. They can help you reframe any kind of day or issue!

Hey Elaine!
I love your attitude. You’re right that life is only what we perceive it to be, and we can control that with laughter. I’m hoping for the best news from the radiologist and willing you good things.
Dan
